I present to you Lightning, the Monkey Queen!
Here it is! I was browsing through all the official costumes that Lightning had in LR and they've literally covered everything already, -_-. From samurai to Tomb Raider, it was hard trying to think of a design they hadn't already done.
I will probably edit this in the days to come before final deadline.
Nice. Interesting concept all-in-all. Um...is that a giant feather circling her torso? It looks like one but I'm not sure.
snicker I almost didn't notice the monkey tail. I like the way it's obviously there, but it doesn't demand total attention. That goes to the 'feather' I noted. Any reference to DBZ or is there another series with the 'monkey king' concept?
...Wait, what am I saying? Did you use Zidane or Kuja as concepts? I just realized that the feathery pattern pseudo-sideburns look a lot like Kuja's, coupled with that odd...half-skirt? Is there a name for that particular article of clothing?
I really like how modest the whole outfit is. And a certainly a practical set. I notice a bunch of contest entries show lots of skin and provide very little protection (to say nothing of the Tsunade-worthy boobs, *groans* oh the back pain), which irks me because Lightning uses a gun-blade, meaning she gets up close and thus gets melee wounds.
The only thing I can really critique on this is the difficulty in recognizing her as female in this picture. It might simply be the position and camera angle, but she doesn't seem to have a female's figure. Upon closer inspection I can just make out hints of a breast, but they aren't really distinctive.
...Then again, I'm too used to seeing over sized breasts on females so you might have proportioned them perfectly. Certainly more manageable for some of the fighting forms Lightning is known to use, so I'm not sure if the critique is a real critique...
All-in-all, a very nice picture! Well done! I hope it wins, or at least gets a runner-up!
Wow, thanks, what an extensive response!
My inspiration actually came from what first inspired Toriyama's DBZ, that is the original chinese novel 'Journey to the West'. I grew up watching the Hong Kong TVB adaptation of it and loved the stories, so my inspiration came from that adaptation, 8)
^_^ I admit I'm a little surprised, it's not often such a detailed review comes to mind when I see a piece of artwork. Great job!
Oh? Never heard of that one. Seems I was wrong on both accounts, then.
Again: Great picture!
Very unique. I love the armor on her shoulder.
All she needs now is Tripitaka, and those disciple friends. Sleipnir as the magic horse has that covered. lol. I really like this~
